Let's give a round of applause for all your Canadian football champs:
CFL
Grey Cup: Toronto Argonauts
East Division: Toronto Argonauts
West Division: Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Question:
Should the division championship winner be awarded a named cup/bowl/trophy? I like that USports has so many named trophies. It could be a good way to show respect to the the league's builders.
Nothing wrong with that except for the fact there shouldn’t be a division winner. If the league ever expands to justify having divisions then I’m all for it. For now no, lest those pushing an unfair playoff system get more traction. And I would expect that no one will accept any such trophies as is the norm in sports.
I'm thinking that the bowls/cups/trophies could be applied (should the league go to a united format) based on seedings:
For example:
Kwong Cup (semi-final featuring #1 seed)
Jackson Cup (semi-final featuring #2 seed)
Braley Bowl (quarter final featuring 3 vs 6)
Ballard Bowl (quarter final featuring 4 vs 5)
I'd get behind it if our league sponsors put SOMETHING behind that cup/bowl/trophy. At the end of the regular season we could award the "Everyone gets a trip to Hawaii Cup" or whatever package a greatful CFL wants to present to our tired champs.
I like the current trophies quite a bit. It's like one trophy split in half, representing half the league. Are you just talking about giving them a new name each or new trophies altogether? They'd look good in my man cave if we get new ones. First dibs.
