2022 CBA Thread

Good news. Thanks for all of your up to date info.

I’m thinking the Canadian players wanted to get it done so they could watch the Battle of Alberta.

Well considering the offer is from the owners they would be dumb to turn down their own offer

Count me in. Usually you’d say it’s a foreigner conclusion but then again didn’t we say that a few days ago too?

Excellent news! We can now concentrate on pre-season games and beginning of 2022 season, exactly 14 days from now.

Glad to see we'll have a 2022 season. Phew.

All the Canadian players complaining about Canadian reductions, lol. The definition of who counts as a Canadian in the CFL has to be flexible, just like with actual immigration. Belonging and citizenship aren't static. All these players come from families who emigrated to Canada at one time or another and wouldn't have been considered Canadian then. So suck it up!

Dave Naylor writes that roughly 500 players will receive a ratification bonus of $2500.

Improved health benefits in this CBA.
That would be very important to the US players

The summary says it increases to four years post retirement this year and 5 years in 2023. Apparently in exchange for the 12 padded practices.

I'm glad the PA's done and we won't have to revisit this nail biter again until 2029. Now we just have to get through the next 7 years of pitchmen telling us we need to dump 3 down football, merge with another league, and shorten our fields to NFL standards.

There might be a heated discussion or two on these topics.

Then we can start a new league.’ The all Canadian pro football league, where all players are Canadian, and maybe have 7 imports. Of whatever nationality.? The stadiums will already be there, and they can give fans a choice, more jobs, more sports, more money. More Canadian players, etccc…

Unless the league and the players and owners do more to put CFL branded footballs into the hands of young people where they are actually playing football -- on football fields - this CBA agreement will not mean much. Too many kids playing football - for fun or practice - on fields with NFL branded footballs. Players, the league and owners need to visit those fields (there aren't that many per market in Canada) and tap kids on thew shoulder - offer a new CFL ball in exchange for that NFL ball they use. The media and CFL sponsors can help by initiating a CFL football exchange where anyone can exchange a new or used NFL football for a a CFL football at any local retailer.

The CBA agreement means of course the CFL is playing ball. As it concerns a ball, I don't care if the kids are playing with a ball with stripes or no stripes or half of the ball with stripes as in NCAA, of no concern to me, just love to see them tossing and kicking a football around. Just get involved in the game of gridiron football whether it be tackle or touch variety.
But sure, getting a ball into the hands of more kids is great and of course if the CFL is helping with this which would be great, it'll be the two stripe variety.
Here's a rare NFL ball with white stripes, vintage:
