2021 Potential Free Agents

You kind of have an idea of where the ratio is going with the Als. By the signings, the Elf made and didn't make, at least so far.

Signing Washington tells you they are looking at 4 Canadians on the Oline. Two Canadians on the Defensive line and likely a Safety or LB.

I would be very surprised if they signed Loffler and Johnstone back. They paid these guys for two years with almost zero contribution from them. The money is just too tight to take Flyers on "Tub talent" in the new CFL. Really sad because both were top, top talent.

Probably a lot of players are not in a rush to sign. We know there is little to no upfront money offered and I'm sure many doubt if there will be a season. Alouettes appeared to have signed more of their FA than most teams. I would not be too bothered Richard.

I can't say that I am bothered, HfxTC, just that i would like more good news.

I am not too sure that the will go with only 1 Import OL on the offensive line. They have good National OL at guards and centre, but no great one at OT. I presume that the potential candidates as National OT are Jamieson and Rice. If Henoc Muamba is re-signed they could easily go with only 3 National OL as starters.

I also doubt that they will re-sign Loffler and Johnstone; if they do so, each of these players will have to accept a salary varying between $78,000. and $84,000. There could be incentives.

As per today's CFL transactions:

N WR Felix Faubert-Lussier has been re-signed.
I DL Lord Hyeamang has signed.
N DL Nathan Anderson has been released .

John Hodge said Anderson was released to save cap space.

The coaching staff probably realized that Anderson could not be a starter or even a rotation player in 2021. Due to reductions in budget of players' salaries, they felt that they could not keep him on the 1 game injured list as they did in 2019, hence releasing him.

What are your views on the return trip of William Stanback and the other signing mentioned in the following from a few days ago?

Great signing by the Alouettes. He's good player

If they go with 3 Canadians on the line, you would think Schleuger would be a priority FA...

I'm kind of keeping track of what new talent The Elf is bringing to the team. So far he's signed two marginal ex players he coached at UM: Menard and Luke. This is still 99 percent Kavis Reed's team who was fired in 2019.

In my December 5,2020 list of potential free agents that I felt should be or could be re-signed , HfxTC, OL Chris Schleuger was a priority to me. OL Donald Hawkins could also be re-signed.

I agree that Luke and Menard are 2 marginal players. If ever 4 N OL start and Muamba returns, I hope that they will go with 4 I DL; could also have an I safety.

Richard

I agree, if there is a training camp we will see if Maciocia's self proclaimed connections in the United States are what he claims they are. So far I am unimpressed.

Adams, Stanback, Reid, Washington are all Kavis Reed players. Interestingly Washington is part of the trade he claimed high and low he would not have made.

He's very lucky, with the new restrictions on staffs and player payroll. This helps a poor rebuilding team like the Alouettes a lot.

Like you say, he will have zero excuse.

Update on Quan Bray, he is facing up to 20 years in Federal Prison. From what I read he is expected to be sentenced from 20 to 36 months if he pleads guilty. So I doubt we see him back. For those who don't know he smuggled157 pounds of weed in duffle bags thrown in the back of a SUV from Mexico into Texas, initially using a Uber....LMAO

Richard

It would be no surprise ... even a full season on an NFL taxi is more than most of them would ever make in the CFL

If reporters were asking questions instead of cupping the Elf's tiny meatballs all the time.

We don't even know who he's made offers to. It would be nice to know what is going on with Muamba and other pending FA's

Apparently, DB Rodney Randle Jr. from Lamar and who recently played in the Spring League has signed.

I suspect the Als front office took a holiday break between Christmas and New Years which is mainly why there was no news during that time. I would expect announcements to begin again on Monday but at a much slower rate than before.

Guessing here, but I think Monshadrik Hunter will sign as he followed Barron Miles to Montreal. Chris Schleuger I believe would sign if the Als thought highly of him and wanted him back. Trey Rutherford; I have no idea. For Henoc Muamba, I think if he were to re-sign, it would be just before free agency begins.

Thanking you for the information, okie.

The official announcement may come next Monday or Tuesday along with re-signings of some players, I do hope.
