With the OUA playoffs coming up tomorrow and the rest of the CIS winding down their regular seasons, I'm curious who everyone is picking for this years Hec Crighton award.
It has gone to a QB every season since 2007 and in my opinion this trend will continue in the form of 2nd year freak, Western U's Will Finch. As much as I dislike admitting it, I really don't think there is any real argument for any other player in the country based on what I've seen.
Can anyone come up with a valid argument for someone else this year?
That’s an easy one. The Hec Creighton should go to Jordan Heather, the Bishop’s Gaiters QB. He has just beaten the all-time CIS single-season passing record set a week earlier by Will Finch. Heather finished the season with 3132 passing yards, as against 3047 for Finch. In a game this season against the Laval Rouge et Or, who have the best defence in the CIS, Heather put up an incredible 538 passing yards in a performance that was simply awesome.
Now that the regular season is over I'd say that it's a toss up between Finch and Heather. It probably SHOULD go to Heather, but I'm not certain that it will go that way. I guess we will see...
