DE is going to be up in the air. Hopefully that makes for an exciting and extremely competitive camp. Even more so than usual. Roger, if you get a chance to go to a Rider practice sometime, do it just to watch Joel Bell. He is a machine. At the end they run the width of the field four times and he is done his four just as the next fastest o lineman has done 3. It is insane.
A change I would consider from my list would be moving Wayne Smith to guard ahead of Parenteau. Correct me if I am wrong but I think he spent time playing guard in Hamilton? Also, that would not change the ratio. I just hope he is healthy.
They'll have what they'll have. I hope they're respectable again.
As for us, the areas of interest for me are as follows:
O-line - lots of good bodies for only 5 starting spots. Who are the 7 that dress opening day?
D-line - in 07 they found Chick, in 09 they found Baggs. Is there a next one on the roster?
Dark horses - is there someone that comes up with limited hype, minimal pedigree, that just blows everyone away in camp, and flat out takes a job? Rob Bagg was that guy, so was Dressler, who spent his first camp in Bowman's shadow.
If a non rook can be a dark horse, I pick Cates.
IMO, he's in for the toughest TC of his career ,but will remain our featured back for most likely his last season in Green.
I agree, the fight for DE will be probably the most interesting to follow, i'm kinda buying into the Hawkins hype though.
