2 teams need a starting QB if available who would you choose

Vince Young gave that a try this year and the Bills cut him. He got a 350K bonus. Young may not getanother chance to be a second string QB without first showing that he still wants to play by being in shape.
As for Vick he will probably get released by the Eagles before the Super bowl. If the eagle release him before then he will not get anything next year. If they keep him on the roster then he will receive a few million in guaranteed money whether he plays for the eagles or not.
That is what makes them both a possibility because they will have no other way to get an income. For Vick or Young at this time 400K is nothing to sneeze at considering their situations. Vick is at a point in his years of service where his the minimum an NFL team would need to pay him is close to 1 Million as part of the CBA salary structure and Young is nearing that point.

Young is in the same boat as Vick. He’s broke and hasn’t got a penny left of the 36 million he’s made in the NFL. Even if you can get one of these guys to sign in the CFL, the only thing on their mind will be how to get back to NFL ASAP which pretty much garantees they would fail as CFL quarterbacks. How do you spend 9 million dollars a year and have nothing to show for it? At least Vick has somewhat of an excuse.

I’ll agree that Young is a possibility but I can easily see Vick signing on as a back up. He’d ride the bench and mentor a young QB and if he had to go in he could because he’d be healthy for the most part. By the way here’s the link on his money situation.

As discussed here it all comes down to whether QBs want to play in the CFL and come prepared to compete if not they can back their bags and go home. The CFL is becoming a lot more visible for import players so they know more now then at any point ever before thanks to technology that the CFL is a good league with lot's of talent and if you come in with an attitude that you are entitled a job you will be going home.
JT O'Sullivan is a pefect example that after 10 years in the NFL you can come to Canada and earn a job if you are prepared. Drew Willy the same as a younger guy.
There was only one, Colt Brennan, this year who came into camp with that old perception and he was gone very quickly.

Don't forget the thread is if these players were available and not to say that the players would not be available anyway.

why would anyone be stupid enough to even put thost NFL QB’s on the list?

they’ll never be here!! especially Michael Vick.

the thought of it is ridiculous beyond your wildest dreams…

If you dont like the list dont vote. Idiot. As for Micael vick idiot he will never get a contract gaurentees that don’t include an escape clause like the eagles did. Soon no one will want to pay him the mandatory million a season then what kind of job will he get. Dog cacher. Idiots

Are you sure that isn’t another M. Vick, as in Marcus, who was highly sought after by the Argos at one time?

I am quite sure I know the difference.

YOU really should not call people here stupid. YOU did not like it when we called you that

Was Washington’s crime a felony? Apparently he was convicted under Texas law, but that doesn’t necessarily make him a felon. And he was a juvenile when convicted so that might mitigate the crime in the eyes of Canadian law. I don’t know.

Pac Man Jones never played a down in the CFL (thankfully), though Winnipeg seemed prepared to go to bat for him if he kept his mouth shut (he didn’t).

I’m sure, as robsawatsky pointed out, there have been some felons who have managed to secure a minister’s permit to cross the border, but I’m pretty sure these types are handled on a case by case basis. It would depend on the type of crime, their age at the time, how long ago it happened, whether or not they did serious time in a penitentiary (Vick did).

true, PacMan (a convicted felon) did not play a down for the Bombers, although did agree to a one year deal with the club (in 2009) that was subsequently rescinded due to unfavorable comments he made in a video posting.

Mike Reilly may have to be removed from this list, as the NFL Jaguars appear to be in pursuit of the pivot…

[b]BC Lions backup QB Mike Reilly may be the next CFL player to sign south of the border with an NFL team.

According to a report from News 1130 in Vancouver, Lions GM Wally Buono confirmed the Jacksonville Jaguars interest in the 27-year-old signal caller.

Chad Kackert may also defect to the NFL as well, according to Arash Madani, who stated the Jets have interest in signing the Argo tailback.

these rapid NFL defections are far too common and exasperating for my liking.
Player recognition and identification consistently suffer, which breeds indifference and lack of emotional attachment with many CFL fans.

Hopefully the next TV contract will increase markedly, in order to provide additional incentive for player retention.

sadly, Chris Williams, the most dynamic player in the CFL, will likely follow suit after the coming season. :frowning:

We don't know the validity of these NFL tryout claims, they could just be a player's agents ploy to drum up some publicity for their client...with an NFL team whose entire staff could be fired in a few days ("the NFL team did not deny their interest.") There's nothing like a failed NFL tryout attempt to increase a CFL'ers ranking in Canada.

That would be a stupid move by him. He’s 27, most QB’s are in their prime already and he’s going to go in as an NFL rookie? Look at Brandon Weeden of the Clevleland Browns? He’s a 29 year old rookie that may not have a job next year because he’s led his team to a dismal 5-11 year. While guys like Russell Wilson, RG3 and Luck all have playoff teams (potentially for RG3) Rielly would be nothing more than a PR guy

The NFL scout the CFL all he time and there are interest in top players but as wee saw with Messam, Solomon E. a couple of rookies Chambers and Plesius. Showing interest, getting to training camp and making the team all different situations. You are seeing more now do to the training camp rosters being expanded to 90. Some will be valid interest while others may just be minor interest. Chad Owens was offered a NFL try out not to far back but realizing that it was only a mild interest he stayed with the security of the CFL.
