HAMILTON — The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced on Saturday that National offensive lineman Chris Van Zeyl will retire after a long and successful 15-year career in the CFL.

One of Chris Jones’ earlier projects. He played DE with the McMaster Marauders in Uni. Jones saw him as a good fit on OL. Worked out really well. Multi-year All-Star, 2019 MOP. He won’t be the last to retire prior to this season.

Congrats on a great career.

Maybe he can replace Sanchez on the panel, then we won’t need subtitles anymore.

I’m sorry to see Van Zeyl leave - but wish him all the best in his retirement. The Cats are losing some key people - Lawrence and Van Zeyl. I hope they have some people in place to replace them.

Unfortunately Van Zeyl doesn’t need to be replaced being as he hardly saw the field these past three seasons . He actually spent the majority of the past three years in the tub at rehab .

Thanks bobo82 for your comment, such as it is. Your posted name indicates that you are a “Hall of Famer” - to what hall of fame do you claim to be a member of? Certainly not one connected to football. Anyone who has appreciation for the game and for those who play it, would show a little more respect towards a player of Van Zeyl’s caliber.

So what part of my post isn’t true or factual ? He had a great run in Toronto before coming here . His first year here in 2019 he was amazing and richly deserved the nomination and being rewarded as such with the MOL award that season . Unfortunately though his last three years here shows that he rarely saw the field as age , injuries and wear and tear over the years unfortunately caught up with him . Personally I would love to see him come back someday as an O-Line coach but then hey , what do I know ?

As for your claim and personal diss at me about my football knowledge well that’s ok , as the saying goes “opinions are like …everybody has one” .

You make this all about you - yet you are the one who self-promotes as a “Hall of Famer.” I did ask to what hall of fame - no reply. I didn’t diss you any more than you dissed Van Zeyl. And yes, I do have a right to an opinion - without your approval.

Are you Baltic by any chance ?

Unfortunately, I believe your question reveals much about you. As a result, I really no longer wish to continue this conversation.

If you like you can put me on ignore believe me it won’t hurt my feelings .

Who cares?

About what?

I asked you a question twice and received no response. It is clear that you don’t have to learn how to play dumb. Time to move on.

The 'Hall of Famer ’ tag is a part of the system that is used on this forum
must like the badge reward is as well . It has nothing else to do with anything else or me personally . It’s no different than when you see posters having a cake beside their names . Other posters have been granted All-Star status for example as well . I tell ya what though if it bothers you so much I will try to have it removed just for you , okay .

There it’s gone . I did it just for you  Hopefully not seeing it will make you happy now and put a big smile on your face . :sunglasses:

Look bobo82, it was not my intention to argue with you or with anyone when I posted my initial comment expressing my regret for Van Zeyl’s retirement. If you want to keep your moniker of “Hall of Famer” - then please feel free to do so. I never took exception to it, I just asked about it.

You need to know that you are not alone on this site as having such a title. In the past I have run into people on this site claiming to be 'Hall of Famers" and were delusional enough to believed they were - it was not a pleasant experience for anyone. In one case the guy was one of the moderators and tried to bar me from the site. Yes, he was that insecure. This is why I asked you about it. Like I said, if you like it, then keep it - it makes no difference to me. I sense that you are probably a good guy, so let’s just part and say until the next time - stay well.
