2017 Transactions

SIGNED:
- International defensive back Corey Tindal (5-9, 187 lbs, Marshall)
- International quarterback Ryan Lindley (6-3, 232 lbs, San Diego State)

Remember Tindal from his poker robbery?

Bengals rookie cornerback Corey Tindal was a victim of an armed robbery Monday in Huntington, W.V., the Herald-Dispatch in Huntington reported.

The report said Tindal was playing poker at a Super 8 Motel with a friend and two other men he knew only by nicknames when one of the men took out a pistol and ordered Tindal and his friend to lie still and give up their valuables. Tindal was hit over the head twice by the barrel of the pistol, the report said.

Police estimate that more than $4,000 in cash and other items including cell phones and rental car keys were taken.

The NFL’s security office figures to have some questions for Tindal as local police go through their investigation.

Tindal gave up his final season at Marshall to enter the NFL. He signed with the Bengals after going undrafted last April.

Yea, aren't they taking a gamble on signing him?

*rim-shot*

I find his story a little hard to swallow, but whatever. It wouldn't be the first time that they signed a guy with some minor trouble in his past and they've all been great here, aside from the time that they offended that doosh Don Brennan by playing the radio too loud during camp last year.

Good, now the irrational hand-wringing on social media can subside for a while.

The money saved on Hank and potentially letting Chris Williams walk should be enough to re-sign Ernest Jackson and any other important FAs the RedBlacks might have.

Yes, EJ is the priority. They could also re-sign Chris Williams at a lower salary and put him straight on to the 6 game injured list which wouldn't count against the cap. His rehab will take 9 months and that would be the end of July. If he has lost a step or two they release him. I don't know if any other team would touch him at his current salary and with that injury.

In theory, but people tend to forget that sometimes, it isn't a lack of will from the GM that causes a player to be unsigned. Desjardins recently made a comment to the effect that some agents aren't even getting back to him. Some guys have their minds made up and that's that.

Ernest Jackson might be one of them. Game-winning catch in overtime in the Grey Cup following a regular season with zero drops. When will his bargaining power be any higher? He can argue that he should top Bowman's contract with reportedly included a $140 signing bonus. That's a tough pill to swallow.

Also, I would imagine that everyone on the 2nd year of a two year contract has a built-in raise.

Ottawa's been pretty good at sticking to plan and budget. yeah, last year they felt they had to let go of Capicciotti, Shologan and Jovon Johnson among other but it partially enabled them to sign Mitchell White, Tank Reed and Cleyon Laing as in-season replacements. It wouldn't surprise me if most of the remaining free agents walked, including Kanneh, Gavins, etc. And I think, like Johnson last year, those guys are in for a bit of a shock because it doesn't sound like too many teams are preapred to toss money around this year.

I don't even think about Williams anymore. To my mind, he's gone, and if he re-signs, it'll just be a pleasant surprise.

While I agree Williams is replaceable, who do we have now with his SPEED?

With Harris being IMO a better LONG ball thrower than Burris was, we need someone just as FAST to keep defences on their toes (or their asses  )

The guy who filled in for Williams during the playoffs did a nice job. Looked like Williams' twin without the twin salary.

That's probably Juron Criner. Nice big target. Probably not as fast but he was certainly dependable which isn't something you could say about Williams all the time.

Actually, it's probably Khalil Paden. Been with the team a while, had been cut but brought back when Williams got hurt.

I liked him last in 2014 but he was hurt most of 2015 and then had a problem with drops and fumbles for some reason this year. The potential is there though.

So.

Re-signed Jerrell Gavins and Nolan McMillan last night.

Today:

The Redblacks signed LB Khalil Bass, receivers Diontae Spencer and Kenny Shaw, defensive back/returner A.J. Jefferson (all three played in Toronto last year), defensive back Adam Berger (Calgary) and linebacker Ron Omara (Hamilton).

Nice haul, yo.
