Oh, I'm not arguing the need for a good tight end, believe me. I agree with the points you're making. And yes, it's quite possible Santiago was activated to provide more blocking beef without taking away an actual receiving option. I mean, Brodeur-Jourdain catching a pass was probably the comedy highlight of the year, but it was a gadget play and definitely not something you'd run more than once in a blue moon.
Trestman isn't vindictive, though. I am fairly confident Santiago will get another shot.
