Appears Whifftista is gently coming out of his typical early season coma/slump.

Guy is soaring - and will soon crash thru the magical .200 hitting mark.

Whatta whiff - the Jays having to sign up Jose after mangling negotiations with the fat kid.

Anyways - I'm sure this flop will tear it up and get his average up to .222 to .233 before settling in - if he's healthy the entire season he could blast 20 to 25 dingers to boot.

Jays better hope they don't make playoffs - any team with a decent pitching staff will squash Old Jose - and the Whifftista we've come to know and hate will re-surface!

He's just garbage against above average to superb pitching. . . . . . so they'll have to leave it to Donaldson & Tulo to save the day . . . . as Goins & Pillar will also succumb to top pitching! Morales might give them a decent 3rd bat as his track record indicates he can hit reasonably (.250 to .265) vs. quality pitching. Trouble is the 3 (or 4) guys who can hit half-decent pitching (Tulo, Donaldson, Morales, Martin) are slow as Trump getting off the toilet - Donaldson has average to slightly above average speed but the rest of the hitters are turtles around the bases!

NOTE - both Donaldson & Tulowiffski's returns have been pushed back.

Team is prolly terrified to trot Donaldson back out there - although he seems fine - the horror for the Jays is that Donaldson's calf strains might be chronic - ie. he sets it off with a bit of effort, either running bases or hunting down grounders!

Tulo is a different kettle of fish. He won't play period unless he's 100% and feels 100%. Then he'll give you those infamously atrocious Tulo at-bats, you know the ones where he has to re-establish his gloves after every pitch! Donaldson is still a MLB all-star, near MVP type of 3-baseman. Tulo is a gold-gloving SS who's an average hitter, average power and an OBP driven lower by less than average speed. His up-side is that if you get to the playoffs - he can suddenly morph into Mr. Clutch and provide some stand-up hitting in addition to his great fielding.
Guys like Bautista, Pillar, Martin, etc. (even Donaldson at times) generally wilt when confronted by superior pitching! :cowboy:

No excuses for Kevin Pillar yelling a homophobic slur last night. Hope the team takes action against him. I think Richard Griffin nailed it with his column today.

I suspect you will see a suspension for the unfortunate outburst and choice of words. And likely some outreach by him and the team to the LBQT community in Toronto when they return home.

I do give him some credit though for at least issuing an apology that sounds sincere - one that indicates he actually understands how wrong he was - instead of one of the usual 'If I happened to offend anybody - I apologize' non-apologies.

Pillar suspended 2 games as Griffin called it in the Star article.

it's the right call IMO and good for the organization to be swift and for Kevin to man-up to it.

Classy move, KP. :thdn:

If it was me, I'd suspend him for the rest of the season - altho, I may have an ulterior motive. ;)

we should all know by now that Tulo is good for missing 30 games a season.

Hopefully more.

Hopefully, when he gets traded, the Jays have to eat a ton of his salary.

P.S.

Jays lost in extra innings, tonight. That's a shame. :)
