Blue Jays and MLB 2017

Well you can't say the Blue Jays aren't trying everything possible to tap into some very specific target markets to sell tickets. Their next home game next Monday will be one of 15 games this season with designated 'nut reduced' zones for those with severe nut allergies.

http://m.mlb.com/bluejays/tickets/info/ ... duced-zone

The Toronto Blue Jays® are pleased to continue offering a peanut/nut-reduced seating area at certain games in 2017. On 15 different game dates during the 2017 season, we will be offering a limited number of seats in a designated peanut/nut-reduced seating area at Rogers Centre™ (the "Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone").

Peanuts and other nuts will not be allowed in a reserved area for these 15 games. Tickets for seating in the Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone are reserved for individuals with peanut and nut allergies and their families only. The Toronto Blue Jays reserve the right to request a doctor's note.

All persons who will be seated in the Peanut/Nut-Reduced Zone will be required to sign a waiver before entering Rogers Centre

Little Man Stroman is MLB's version of Kevin Glenn - actually Glenn, at 5'8.5" might be a half-inch taller than Stroman.

Stroman, at 5'8" and 185 - his body is giving out. At this point, despite being fairly young, he's untradeable because of this.

Only 30 tosses tonite - before he gave out!

Jays rack up 3 early and Stroman just barfs up the lead.

Damn, I miss Donaldson's wacky hair-styles! And Tulowitzki re-fastening his gloves after every pitch!!!

His body is giving out? What are you talking about? I'll admit this "arm tightness" is a little worrying, but his only significant injury before this was a knee issue that he recovered from incredibly quickly.

Well the Jays got to 10 wins before they got to 20 losses - which I said was an absolute necessity. Morales and the sagging bullpen carried the Jays last nite after Liriano gave out after only 3 innings. Morales hit 2 big dingers - one on a rope to propel the feeble BJs to their 10th win of the season as opposed to 19 losses.

Bautista the Whiffer almost set a record last nite as he was at the plate for the Jays last at bt - had already whiffed 4 times and coulda been 5 but the Tampa pitcher lofted a softball and Jose was able to get his bat on the ball; albeit a pitiful pop to deep 3rd.

As for Stroman - the form chart on BJ injuries is they somehow take much longer to heal than most other teams. Sanchez' bad-finger is plaguing him, Donaldson & Tulowitzki are taking their sweet time returning to the roster and something is not right with Jay Happ. Joe Be a Genie is starting this weekend - cuz the Jays are zero b zero in their farm system. Matt Lactose has already been demoted (optioned) down to the farm cuz he can't pitch major league hitters anymore.

Devon Travis is a mystery meat. This guy should be a .235 to .250 major league hitter but he's barely above Bautista.

If this were New York, Boston or LA a mope like Bautista would be cut or moping on the bench. But its Toronto - they have to play the guy cuz they got nobody better.

Well, they lost today so...

10 and 20.

Like being 1 - 2 in the NFL. Jays could still come back but, TBH, they really don't look like they have it in them.

So basically a team of mopes.

Some fundamental personal mistakes starting with:

1. Acquiring softball knuckler R. A. Dickey for top picks including Syndergard
2. Acquiring mopes like Reyes and then Tulowitzki at SS - Tulo is a real pro - but he's vastly overrated.
3. Letting Edwin go and Bautista stay - Edwin is an above average power-hitter and below average position player (perfect for American league rosters). Buttista is now a poor power-hitter and barely average right-field. Should be optioned to Buffalo if that's even possible.
4. Gibby is NOT a professional manager - a gum-chewin', zote spewin', mountain dew quenchin' bench guy who belongs in AAA or AA, not the majors.
5. Someone ate the poison muffin with Devon Travis - he hid his inefficiencies first couple years with injuries - now he's exposed as an average fielder with a weak eye at the plate.
6. Other than Donaldson - some extremely weak acquisitions including Maile, Barney, Carrera. Bullpen is full of fecal matter and vermin other than Osuna.

If Jays are still 10 games under .500 at the half-way mark (ie. 35-45) they'll have to go 50-30 (20 games over .500) in last 80 games just to get to 85 wins - - - - which would only be border-line wild-card. :cowboy:

To his credit, he is amazing defensively, for a man who is 6'3"

Agree. Love to see him struggle, tho.

Teams need about 90 wins to get into the playoffs - Jays got in with 89, last year.

To get to 90 wins, the Jays would need to go 80 and 52. That means .600+ ball. Not easy. In fact, very, very difficult.

I think the Yankeeks are on the verge of being dominant again. Aaron Judge appears to be a monster in the Mickey Mantle/Babe Ruth tradition - only a real giant.

Baltimore and Boston are still viable for playoffs but most other teams in AL are scuffling - including the Jays.

Assume NYY are dominant - that means they absorb more wins at the top - meaning lower tier teams have slightly less wins - thus the 1-game playoff teams might slither in with 87 or 88 wins - still a very tall task for a team scuffling like crazy - a team like the Js

Nice to see the Jays lose - last night.

I know they are a better than average team - when healthy. Just have to hope the hole is too deep by the time all the parts come together.
