Saskatchewan is reporting Kavis tried to acquire Durant but Jones demanded Adams Jr. in return ! Luckily so far the rookie didn't let himself get plucked like a spring chicken.

Keep you're fingers crossed.
Everything I write is just an opinion formed from various sources. Some more reliable than others, it is expressed as a composite of facts, innuendos, emotions, personal experiences and complete fabulation into a gumbo for entertainment purposes alone.

Good on Kavis! That would have been robbery. Durant is a pending FA and not worth a good QB prospect whom we gave up a first-rounder to acquire.

Here is what I would offer Durant

2 year contract:
Year one: 100k to sign and 300k salary = 400k plus a 50k bonus if he gets to GC game and has a home playoff game (to be paid in first week of 2018)

Year Two: 100k bonus by January 10 or a week prior to free agency whichever comes first and 300k salary = 400k plus a 50k bonus if he gets to GC game and has a home playoff game (to be paid in first week of 2019)

The Als will have an experienced QB on the roster this season. Take that to the bank. I think Durant is their first choice and the fact the inquired about his rights means they know exactly what Durant is looking for and are ok with paying it.

Winnipeg just released Glen and have given up on negotiating with Nichols, which suggests they are now also a player for Durant.

Jones does not have a pot to p i s s in and no matter how it ends the Als will have access to one of Durant, Nichols, Glen or possibly even Burris as a veteran presence.

It is essential for our young QB's to progress that they don't have to carry the team. ESSENTIAL and something JC understands full stop.

I'd take Glenn back on the roster, for sure. He's exactly the kind of veteran QB we need: someone who can win games immediately but who won't demand big coin or expect to be the unconditional starter.

I would  also gladly take Kevin Glenn again with the Als; I do expect that he would want a minimum salary of $150,000 to $175,000 with incentives.

I don't care about Durant; I prefer Glenn to him.

Ok, Explain ?

Because in my books Durant has been to 3 GC and won one, KG's never been to a GC game, came close but got injured.

Durant is younger

Durant is more athletic

Durant is bigger (similiar lower body strength to Burris)

Durant and Chapdelaine believe in each other.

I don't have a problem with Glenn but he's no Durant.

.....Does Corky think that Kavis just fell off the turnip truck...This guy makes me laugh...Nobody is going to trade for a free agent player with free agency days away... I'd say that Jones is preparing for the Durant departure and thought he could sucker somebody before he watches DD walk away..(or maybe run away as I don't believe they see eye to eye after certain comments were made)....The Durant sweepstakes are heating up and depending on what Nichols does, could get a lot hotter...It will definitely come down to you guys and us if Nichols doesn't re-up...UNLESS the Corkscrew in Regina has something up his sleeve

I think you forget Glenn started the 2012 Grey Cup for the Stampeders and lost to Ricky Ray's Argos .
I think Glenn maybe a little more durable than Durant but I really believe you have to develop the guys you have like Adams who played well enough to continue with Cato . Get some more strength on the line and get reliable receivers with a running game and develop the youngins  .

I'm ok either way. Obviously 400k is a big chunk of your budget and we are very lucky to have two good young QB's when you see other teams situation like Toronto, Saskatchewan and Winnipeg. It is comforting.

okie

Herb Zurkowsky says Kavis Reed has told him that signing Kevin Glenn is not an option.

RichardVeilleux

Do the Als want a "mentor" for their young QB's or a starting QB? Maybe Kavis Reed says that Kevin Glenn is not an option, but do you expect him to say otherwise since Kevin Glenn may not have cleared waivers, yet?

If they are crazy enough to pay Durant as much as $400,000  a season that's their problem, but I don't agree, but my opinion means nothing.

I think you're opinion is valid. It really depends how they want to build their roster and how far away they think our young QB's are.

As for the other part of your point. If a QB is not capable of starting, he's off no use to developing you're younger guys.
