Do I dare try to take this on again this year? They sure as hell kept me busy last season.

SIGNED:
- National kicker Sean Decloux (Maine)
- International defensive lineman Sammy Brown (Houston)
- International linebacker Kevin Brown (Cincinnati)
- International receiver Avius Capers (Johnson C. Smith)
- International running back Marion Grice (Arizona State)
- International defensive back Wayne Lyons (Michigan)
- International defensive back Kenneth Penny (UNLV)
- International receiver Antoine Smithson (Utah)
- International receiver Joshua Stangby (Ottawa [Kansas])
- International running back Shadrach Thornton (North Carolina State)
- International receiver Rahsaan Vaughn (Oregon)

A couple of those names might seem vaguely familiar. They're just guys being moved fro the practice to the "active" roster. I believe practice roster agreements terminate right after the season, as opposed to when free agency starts (February 14th, 2017)

Ottawa releases Cleyon Laing

Not really a big surprise there, that's what I figured would happen. The D-Line should be a bit of a priority this off season. Eli Ankou moved up to #3 in the draft ranking, might be gone before Ottawa has a shot at him. He's a local guy, too, which is always a bonus.

Maybe potential NFL interest makes him drop. I have no idea whether such interest actually exists, though.

Jamal Kett is interesting among that group.  A draft pick last year that had suffered a leg injury.

Nice big target.

Said Desjardins (this past May): “He just hurt it (a broken leg), I believe, in spring practice. He’s got a big, huge body. He blocks like you really don’t see too much in the CIS. He catches very well, with very good body control. He’s a guy who will be able to come in and probably not start, but he’ll be able to back up on teams, cover kicks, be physical and potentially one day be a receiver. He won’t be around this year, but he’ll be back next year.”

Said Campbell: “Some of those big receivers who can block, they’re harder to defend on defence than a stereotypical fullback that’s just a blocker. He fits in that mold — being able to be around the box and be a receiver and also being able to block. If he would have not been hurt, he would have been up the list.”

Check out his block at 1:10.  :-)

About Fraser-Audit, another draft pick (and another hyphen...holy cripes...)

Quote
Said Desjardins: “He’s played tackle, he’s probably more of a guard. He’s another very athletic guy we really like and we think has a lot of upside. We have some very good depth right now for the future on the offensive line.”

For what it's worth.

Held on Friday with 11 players changing teams, the (negotiation list) draft is for non-veteran free agent players who were on a neg list, signed to a team roster (and) were subsequently released during the 2016 season and did not sign with another franchise. Each player who falls under that category is able to be put on a neg list during the draft.

The clubs that previously signed and released the player has exclusive access to put that athlete on their neg list up until the neg list draft. At that point, it becomes a draft – same as the regular draft order – for those players. For a team to add a player to the neg list – unless under the maximum capacity of 45 – another would have to be dropped off.

Kavis Reed made his first moves after officially being named Alouettes’ general manager, adding international offensive linemen Quinterrious Eatmon (Redblacks) and Audrey Walker (Bombers).

Ottawa grabbed Canadian offensive lineman Kadeem Adams (Riders) and import receiver Armon Binns (Redblacks).

I'm not sure I understand that explanation but the bottom line appears to be that Armon Binns is back on the neg. list along with Kadeem Adams.

mick87

Yeah I'm not really sure I understand either.

Here's Kadeem Adams film: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=goP6AAph4TE

2 more RedBlacks signed

http://www.ottawaredblacks.com/2016/12/ ... lattanzio/

If I'd have had to guess at the next guy to sign, it would have been one of those two. Especially with Lattanzio being a local.

I didn't think much of Romick but looking him up, he had 17 special teams tackles in 2015. Not too shabby.

Maybe I'm making too much of this, but I find it pretty damn impressive.  Not only is it rare, I think it's probably pretty rare to be announced so soon. These guys aren't even bothering to look.

QQ One-Nine

Not going to include the guys that were cut since they were about to about free agents anyway.
