Riders sign QB Brandon Bridge

I don't understand this one...I see no benefit in it unless they want to shift him to WR or something....which I could see
Maybe another Sinopoli situation

It sounds like they are still searching for their qb to run the wild cat.

Riders acquire Bennett and Hecht from Stamps

http://www.riderville.com/2016/08/16/ri ... tampeders/

Bennett getting a little long in the tooth

depopulationINC

Bennett is 32...but he is a solid Corner.  He is a very capable starter on most teams...was displaced by a couple of young faces that have been exceeding expectations...Stamps have wanted to put him in...but Evans just keeps being solid game in and game out...so they can't

Hecht is a NI worth looking at...he has done pretty well in limited action....looked good when he came in with the Als and started half or so of the season...did well.   has been able to do real reps for the Stamps for a few years.

Giving up neg list players for a proven CB who should be around a couple seasons and a NI guy who can at least compete for a job on the 46 out of the gate...pretty respectable trade IMO

JimmytheGreek

Yeah but we all know the Stamps aren't giving us an early  Christmas present.  I suppose  they will both retire before they get here and they got 2 free neg list players.

With Bennett it is pretty obvious that they have moved on with Evans.  Evans is going to be a heck of a player.  Bennett is a very good player in himself...I would assume he is a ways off of base...moving a player with an elevated salary that is riding pine is always a good move...even if a bit risky if you are not confident in depth...but the Stamps are likely ok there.  Atop of that...the Stamps won't see the Riders again this season...they don't mind making a trade that helps.

I am assuming Hecht was pried away from the Als as a FA with a few extra bucks...they brought in Bell with their new DC...time to move on.

I see the Argos released Keon Raymond  :o

http://3downnation.com/2016/08/25/argos ... -contract/

although...again, getting a little long in the tooth, but having a pretty productive year.

Phhft forget Raymond look who the Als signed. http://www.baylorbears.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/laquan_mcgowan_767499.html         6ft7 410 lbs tight end. Yes a fricken tight end.

God could you imagine the possibilities? Talk about your short yardage guarantee. Give him the ball, have the qb nudge him from behind and let momentum do the rest. You could have him as the RB and just stand there. Talk about a wall between your qb and the rushing defender. Move him to DT, it would take 3 O linemen just to slow him down. Use him on the O line, have him fall forward and crush two D linemen in one shot. Big hole for the running back to walk through. Like I said the possibilities with that size and if he played tight end he must have some talent. Man you would have to be crazy not to give him a look at least.

Wow...he's a LOT bigger than William "The Refrigerator" Perry!! That's insane  :o

I have met  McGowan...pretty good guy from my experience...dude knows full well with some development time in the CL he could easily land in the NFL still.  What is scary about his size is that he is pretty athletic....i mean at 400+ he breaks a 5.5 in the 40.  Honestly...I think this guy could play a lot of spots...fb/rb/te.  I am not sure how he would fair out on the line...i think he struggles with footwork and has a hard time getting low...those are huge factors...but would I look at it and try to develop him...in a heartbeat.  Where I think he is overlooked is MLB in short yardage situations.  I think it is something he would do well with...dude is long and heavy with a solid acceleration.  I think he is fast enough to connect with RBs head on here and there.  if he can do that 1 of 4 times then he is a short yardage chame

Not sure he has Perry's stunning athletics....but still.  I mean hey...Perry ran an 11 second 100m and was known as an all around athlete...scary

Too bad we can't find guys like this.

yeah...Chiles is a nice upgrade for them...his unfortunate circumstances for missing time also unfortunately worked him out of a job because of younger cheaper options showing well.  If the team is at 3-4 wins (which realistically they should be an likely are w/ half the injuries) then Chiles is likely still around.

Sinkfield is great....but he is likely to spend a few weeks looking down south...then maybe the CFL if he doesn't land.  The Riders will unlikely get in a bidding war for him...import receivers is an area they look pretty good at now and into the future...assuming they can re-sign Roosevelt

Interesting that the Riders just added Jeff Fuller too. Implications? Possibly trade bait or a fill in for Rosie for the rest of the season. Possibly also a safety net in case Rosie moves on.

I just hope that with the two new additions there is still plenty of coin left  in the piggy bank to get Darain signed. Having a pretty good stock of receivers is fine but you still need the key guy to get them the ball, otherwise it is just a waste of space and resources   on your roster.
