Seems fair given the uncertainty around whether Zach can regain his peak form.

I wonder if the Riders tried to lock him in for another year?  The one-year deal seems to work in Zach's favour.  If he returns to former glory, he can expect a bidding war in the off-season and perhaps a $100k raise.  And if he disappoints, they won't be paying him even this reduced amount in 2019 anyway since contracts are not guaranteed (much to the delight of libertarians).

There is a possibility of a strike after this season.
An increase in the Salary Cap could put the star Free Agent players in a good position for Mo Money.
Free Agent QB's could get substantial raises

Correction on Collaros contract: Pay will max-out at about 430k but that is all guaranteed without playtime incentives. Still less than Harris (450k) and Mitchell (475k). #CFL

With Colllaros money guaranteed above $400K, makes it tough for @sskroughriders to have a truly competitive situation at QB. They could still do so but it’s going to cost them a lot of $$$ if Brandon Bridge wins the job. #Riders #CFL

from Justin Dunk
"The Riders newest quarterback was scheduled to make $540,000 in 2018, $200,000 of which was due as an off-season bonus February 1. The Riders and 29-year-old pivot agreed to a restructured deal worth $430,000 in hard money including $225,000 up front. There are no playtime incentives in the contract.
A provision in the Canada-U.S. income tax treaty allows international players who maintain a permanent residence south of the border to be taxed just 15 per cent on any signing bonus – much less than their usual Canadian tax rate. That means after some astute accounting work, Collaros comes out with more money in his pocket."

Collaros donates to drug task force

STEUBENVILLE — Officials with the Jefferson County Drug Task Force announced Monday the Zach Collaros Foundation has given the task force a $3,000 donation.
Jason Hanlin, a detective with the task force, said the donation will be used to purchase four body-worn cameras for task force officers.
“We are extraordinarily grateful for this donation,” Hanlin said. “Zach Collaros has always represented Steubenville proudly and continues to give back to his hometown. We will use these body cameras as we continue to fight the opioid epidemic in Jefferson County. These cameras will help us capture evidence in our investigations and enable us to show jurors exactly what officers encounter during narcotics investigations.”
Each year the Collaros foundation selects local recipients for its donations. The foundation is a nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the lives of children living in the local area.
Collaros is the quarterback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football League. He played college football at the University of Cincinnati and high school football at Steubenville High School.
