You mean like Stef Ptaszek? ::)
Ptaszek is not an experienced CFL OC. Find one who is. and knows how to call plays.

How much experience did Dave Dickenson, Marcus Brady have when they were hired for such in this league...their teams are doing alright.....

It takes time....patience.

Ptaszek is surely an upcoming talent. But I think he should be re-assigned to a position such as receivers or running backs coach. Let him learn the ropes without having so much pressure as an OC position.

I'm with you home team!  We have to take the time, and take the speed bumps, to develop some talent instead of hiring on some other team's cast-offs.  No one to my knowledge is every born a CFL, or a head coach, they all have to learn and grow into the position.  Right now Ptaszek has all kinds of mentors and experienced coaches around him, what better time to learn and absorb?  Bring in a new guy and we are yet again starting over.

Dickenson wasn't promoted to Offensive Coordinator until he already had two full seasons under his belt in a lesser coaching role in the CFL. Brady wasn't promoted to Offensive Coordinator until he already had two full seasons under his belt in a lesser coaching role in the CFL.

So the answer to your question is, in addition to having very recent experience as active-roster CFL quarterbacks, they each had two seasons of non-OC CFL coaching experience before they were promoted to OC.

That's still not much time. The season is only 18 games.

Mike O"Shea was a special teams co-ordinator in Toronto for a couple of seasons before he became a head coach, and it still took two more years in his current position in Winnipeg before he found some success.

Ptaszek had a full year as OC before this, plus many years at Mac running CFL-type offences & using CFL rules.  Problem was, Austin wouldn't let him do what an OC was supposed to do.

Stef would make a great receivers coach as he was a  talented receiver himself.i would like to see a position created called game manager. I think head coaches get so wrapped up in play calling and  adjustments that they lose site of time management and points management

In the NFL they call them Quality Control coaches.

Stefan Ptaszek would be an excellent addition to the Tiger Cats.

Looks like Coach Ptaszek can see the writing on the wall.

Soon-to-be-ex Ticats offensive co-ordinator Stef Ptaszek open to McMaster return

No, he hasn't been fired.  He just doesn't expect to be renewed.

of course

We need June Jones and the QB coach he hired halfway through his tenure here this season to handle the offence.  Under the direction of those two, we were lighting it up.

I'm not sure keeping guys aboard because they are "nice guys" is something we should continue going forward.  I wants results.

A coach confidently announcing publically he's on the way out long before a mgmt decision is actually made? Seems this is another stone being tossed out about the teams state of affairs. This time though not from the players side. Tell me this man is happy.

The TiCats just hired Dan Morrison as Offensive Assistant and Quarterbacks coach 5 weeks ago.
He has previously worked under June Jones on 2 separate times in that same position at Hawaii and more recently as associate Head coach and Quarterbacks coach at Southern Methodist University. The two worked together for a total of 15 years between the two schools from 1999-2014.

This tells me that Morrison will probably be handling the O/C jobs in conjunction with Coach Jones, which kind of leaves Coach Ptasek very much in limbo.
I think it is very smart of Ptasek to handing out resumes at this time.

Thanks to @Doc_Dave for sig
