I'm not biased.  To be biased you have to prefer one person over another.
Some posters here have proven that they prefer Masoli over Collaros, and that they want
him traded or cut before TC.
I do not prefer Collaros over Masoli, if Masoli can win a GC for us that is great.
All I want to see is a fair competition between the two and let the results fall where they may.

That's not biased.

Cats have 540,000 reasons on why ZC will not be here come training camp.
That happens to be your opinion,   but a Grey Cup win for the Cats is worth that price in my opinion.

Or shall we give him to the ARGOS and let them have the GC.

This decision should be left up to Jones if he comes back.

Your opinion like mine , means nothing to him.

Enough said.

I guess I missed all his gc wins

Yes, JJ had been complimentary about Zach. And with good reason I'm sure.

Whether Zach will be here next season is mostly in the hands of management above the coach though. They are concerned with budgets and salary allocations in a way that coaches don't have to be.

You clearly think keeping Zach at his current salary is a good choice. That's your opinion. Others would rather spend that money differently. They are no more biased than you are, they just don't agree with you.

I'm ok either way. However, I do see more potential pluses in moving him and spending the money elsewhere, for example on increases for Masoli and Banks, plus some new blood in areas of greatest need. That's one of the things about the salary cap... You have to manage it considering all the pieces of the puzzle. Tying up $540k in one player creates a lot of constraints on your ability to manage it.

I also predict (that's not the same as want) that they will move him.
The cats can't sign their starting qb for less money than their paying the backup.theyll lose him to another bidder

Please refer back to the "love" thread. JJ loves ALL his players and why would he ever say anything bad about a player. All players are assets to a team. Nobody intelligent would purposely diminish an asset. Instead of JJs quotes why not instead reference that ZC threw exactly 3 passes over 10 games while Jones was in charge.
So what!... Jones picked Masoli at the begining of his tenure.Simply because Masoli showed that
he was more mobile than Collaros and he wanted to see if he could play well under his type of
offence. Masoli did well and Jones policy is to leave him in until he proves other wise.
There was no reflection on Collaros's ability other than Masoli being a better scrambler than him.

If Masoli had failed Collaros would have played the rest of the season.
In my opinion with jones O-line Collaros is just as good as Masoli if not better.

But to be not biased, I would like to see them go head to head in the preseason and let
 the winner prevail.

I agree. That's why I think they'll keep one of them only. I suspect they'll most likely pay Masoli enough to keep him, and trade Collaros if they can or release him if they can't.

I doubt that very much. Austin still believes in Collaros and he's the one who does the releasing.
It will happen like my initial post.

Perhaps. We'll see soon enough I guess.

I think they had a fair competition already, and Masoli won the job. You can't drag it on forever.

You can look at last season, where both QBs played under Austin. Masoli was better. 0 and 8 this year, and Austin wouldn't give Masoli a chance. That wasn't a fair competition. Jones had no reason to favour one guy over the other. He picked who he thought was better. The O-line played better yes -- again, because Jones put better people in place. The defense was better--again, Jones chose better players. Jones chose to play Banks at receiver. Again-- the right choice.

Jones has proven to be a better evaluator of talent than Austin. And this includes the QB position.

Trestmann proclaimed Ricky Ray the starter before training camp. It was the first thing he did as coach.  He understood the importance of having a clear direction.

So, I say sign the winner of the QB competition (Masoli), and start working towards next year with a clear starter in place. Take the money saved on Collaros, give some to Masoli, and sign some players with the rest.

If there is to be any battle at training camp i would prefer it to be between Johnny M and JM. Both could be signed for the same $$$ amount that is committed to Zach currently.
If Johnny becomes a distraction then release him.

I'm going to hammer this subject out over and over. Collaros was not giving a chance by Jones
period. So we will have to agree to disagree.
If Collaros is traded before TC , it will turn out to be the worst move the ticats have made in
recent history. Because I can see him making his way to the Argos where Trestman will take him
in with open arms.

Agree totally!  I am NOT wishing for Zack to leave at all.  He is OUR guy!   People will soon realize this and then just shake their heads as the “other” team hoists The Cup and we ponder “ what could have been”.

I too am a ZC believer with a big BUT
Under no circumstances can i see him as a value at his massive salary. Unfortunately in the salary cap era cap space is as important as a good player.
Cutting ZC loose will allow the Cats to strengthen themselves at numerous positions.
Zach would have to play at league MVP calibre to justify the salary.
So Cats will cut loose a good player but he is not a value play for us. It must be and will be done.

Without doubt Zach is an intense competitor, solid team mate and physically gifted but you can't escape the fact that the Cats lost 18 out of 22 games prior to June coming in and making changes.  His unfortunate injuries certainly made his play very unsettled and inconsistent.   As was mentioned earlier, June sees these guys every day at practice and he knows who works best within his system.

Jeremiah has done everything asked of him this year. If not for some mental blunders (P.I. vs Calgary with 8 seconds left) and bad play calling from our staff we could have won at least another game and made it to the playoffs.  Masoli did more than his fair share to contribute to the wins.  I recalled watching him live last season at the opening of BMO and destroying the Argos and thinking this guy has a great future.  Here are some excerpts from that game...  From CFL.CA
"Jeremiah Masoli was lights out for the Ticats, completing 27 of 37 passes for 318 yards and three touchdowns including 15 straight completions.
In the end it was the Ticats getting the picture perfect start to their CFL season, kicking things off with a 1-0 start to their 2016 campaign despite not having quarterback Zach Collaros and franchise defensive tackle Ted Laurent on the field.
The Ticats needed to move the football and milk the clock.  They did that, starting with a 19-yard pass to Owens then slowly but steadily moving up the field. Masoli completed nine straight passes, book-ending the drive with a touchdown pass to Owens to put the game on ice and give the Ticats a 39-20 lead with just over seven minutes left."

Remember Masoli's record setting huge comeback win versus Edmonton last season too?  I see nothing but upside for Jeremiah as he gets more reps as a starter.  His stats don't lie.  He has been getting better all along and has earned the right to be a starter.  15 TD's vs 4 picks in the last 10 games with 3032 yards passing and 384 yards rushing.

I have absolutely nothing against Zach and only best wishes for him. I have been extremely impressed with his work ethic, commitment to rehab and support of his fellow team mates.  However, where we are now, his huge contract (and Teddy's) is an anvil around this team's neck that we cannot afford.  Too many valuable free agents need a share of that contract cash to keep this team competitive.

If it was up to me, I would keep Jeremiah as the starter and let Zach have another shot with another team.  I don't see us "settling" for Jeremiah, I see him as a rising talent that has already proven his capacity to play at a high level and more importantly he is getting better all the time.

This is purely a money issue that will only be resolved once one of our QB's has left the building.

My money is on Jeremiah staying with best wishes for Zach wherever he may be going.
