Last May the Edmonton Eskimos selected Mississippi State LT Justin Senior in the 5th round after he dropped due to NFL interest. The CFL Scouting Bureau former #1 overall ranked was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the sixth round NFL draft of the same year. That had everything to do with the Eskimos getting Senior so late in the draft.

Some of the highlights of Seniors draft profile on NFL.com ... "gains adequate ground in his slides", "punch is generally well timed" and "smart angles to his blocks and can have and impact on the second level." Then Senior went to camp with the Seahawks and battled knee problems that eventually led to him being placed on the PUP (Physically Unable to Perform) list at the end of July, 2017. In August of 2017 the Seahawks placed Senior on the IR and that meant he was not going to play, but they retained his rights. Then the Seahawks provided an injury settlement in December and Senior was sent home to heal up.

Could Senior still play? Would the Esks give him a chance to revive his career in the CFL? Yes to both!

However it will not be right away as there is most likely a clause in the injury settlement that prevents the players from engaging in another contract or forego the settlement. However, by September Senior should be available to the Esks and could be brought in for a workout. If all works out well Senior could be in Green and Gold by the Labour Day rematch.
