So bad, I turned it off after 30 minutes.

At least the trailer was funny - which is the reason I give it a 1...

Great Book...Dunkirk

Exciting history

If not for the mercy of the Germans, the retreating British expeditionary force would have been wiped from the face of the earth.

I just hope its historically accurate.

(And my pretend movie was funny)
The germans were dead tired and machinery was broken down after the hard drive to get there, And actually it was the bravery of the French soldier that kept the Germans at bay.

...from what I've read the germans were dealing with a logistics resupply issue as a result of their rapid advance that then forced their front lines to effectively stall their progress, buying the brits a few days of reprieve to stage their escape from the mainland...the french did everything they could to hold the germans back during this time, and then were wiped out when the german war machine was able to begin anew...
There is no dark side of the moon really. Matter of fact it's all dark.

I TONYA.

Fantastic.

Loved every word and scene.

I do not like child or woman abuse, but that is what her life was.

Great movie.

Problem is, I am now spending to much time on you tube looking at Tonya Harding stuff.

There is a very good message in this film.

No matter how tough things get, keep going and it will pay off in the long run.

That and do not let the media do your thinking for you.

I remember back to that time and I never believed   Tonya was in on the plot.

To bad so many others did, just based on media reports.
Isn't it terrific?

So happy to liked it.  Thank you for letting us know.  :)
Yes, so terrific I plan to see it again.

I think it is cool that the cast brought Tonya to the Golden Globes awards show.

Alison Janney won a Golden for her role and  both her and Tonya looked freaking hot in their dresses.

I did not see the show, cause there is nothing more boring and painful than awards shows.

I did however, see pictures and good old youtube .

The Deuce (Season 1) (HBO) (2017) :

As per Wiki, "The Deuce is an American drama television series set in and around Times Square, New York City in the early 1970s. Created and written by author and former police reporter David Simon".  David Simon is the genius behind The Wire - one of the best shows ever made.

The Deuce is unique/original and the characters are endless, yet it somehow avoids becoming a clichéd soap opera.  That's the good.

The bad is the sadness and depression that comes with seeing American urban life.

Still, it held my attention and was 8+ hours of amazing T.V.

Note : The show deals with the prostitution/porn industry, and the nudity/violence is endless, so the show is not for the faint of heart.

7.75/10

 Altered Carbon 2018

They spent mega dollars on this futuristic sci fi thriller . It takes patience and listening skills to understand some of the concepts of this future world built on the ability of man to shed his skin and enter another body whether cloned or refurbished from a used dead one .

It's a little who done it mixed with martial arts . Lots of nudity , language and violence .

Still waiting to watch the final episode but I have to say job well done . There is compelling viewing and a great background story line with a gentle mix of characters
that keeps you interested .

Looking for something to binge on  I would list this with Peaky Blinders as shows that will keep you hooked to watch more this winter .

Yes many brave French soldiers held their post like the 300 spartans .  About 35,000 French soldiers held them at bay . The POW's were treated very harshly by the Germans .

Out of the 300,000 saved at Dunkirk over 100,000 were french soldiers .  On June 4th the final day over 25,000 french troops were evacuated .

They were repatriated to continue the war in France . Many of them were forced to surrendered not long after returning .  I never knew this until today . I always thought the large unit of French stayed in Britain and waited to fight later in the war after D Day. I don't think Churchill thought the French Government would settle terms so quickly with Germany and would fight on . To send so many back just to be captured or killed seems a waste of gallantry and bravery for those who held off the Germans at Dunkirk and those who picked them up from Britain .

Only About 3,000 stayed in Britain with general de Gualle .

  Shot Caller 2018

A movie I avoided because of the prison theme . Should have known better as Shawshank was one of my favourite movies .

The movie who has the King Slayer on GOT  as the main lead was well served .
He Nickolaj  Coster -Waldau does a great job as a man who lost everything in a second then survives in gruelling conditions .  When released is forced to protect his family by doing the bidding of those he served in prison .

This departs  from formula movie story telling and was a nice change .It will entertain you . Many twists and turns with good acting and script .

I should not have hesitated watching it . Time well wasted .

 Darkest Hour 2018

Wasn't sure I would like this movie . I ended up glad I gave it a go .

Gary Oldman does a marvellous performance Of Winston Churchill . Never knew how close we came to capitulation by government bureaucrats who feel they know what's better for the people .

Winston stood up to them and knew the will of the people to carry on the fight .

But oh so close to world changing history . Worth a look as the performance of Winston and the surrounding factions were astounding .

Hostiles 2018

Always look forward to a good western . Christian Bale plays the lead character an old soldier with one last mission to take an old rival indian chief to his final resting place .

Critics of the movie found it shallow . I liked it as it flowed well with a background story and action complimenting each other like western's of old . Lots of honour and gallantry filled with violence and redemption . Good to see Adam Beach back on the screen even in a minor role .

Bale does a steady performance like always . A good western with an old fashioned story line with a compelling cast  that reminded me of 1993's  Tombstone with Kurt Russell  for it's simple tone of friendship and duty . You will like Hostiles .

45 Years (2015) :

You think you know someone...  :)

Kate is married to Geoff.  They are a happily married childless couple, when Geoff receives a letter about his first love, who died when the two were hiking, and Kate is left wondering what she really knows about her husband of 45 years, and the life they had.

Both Charlotte Rampling and Tom Courtenay are amazing.

The movie is a slow burning character study.

Quite good and currently on Netflix.
