I'm thankful I'm not American.

Feel for those rational human beings that have to live with the labels they are painted with because of the actions of a crazy minority.
That's right.

Take a positive thread and turn it into a negative.
Didn't intend for it be taken as a negative. I'm thankful I'm Canadian. We aren't perfect but still a great place to live.

I am thankful I'm not American because it is not a great place to live right now, very divided and a little dangerous. There are a lot of great Americans and the really crazy ones (has nothing to do with any one political party) are the ones in the news and outside North America they all get labelled as whatever that minority of crazies are.

Maybe poorly worded and not the right thread for it, but wasn't meant as an insult to Americans or our American posters.
Thanks DC. Canada is great for sure and I'm Thankful

Also USA is a great country doing just fine. That is why over 300,000 Canadians living legally part time
there. Wonderful country that's why so many around the world want to move their.

I feel for the sane Americans, who are in the vast majority, because outside the continent the get labelled as crazies and nut jobs like the minority.

Living on the border we get to see things in a light the rest of the world doesn't see. However, I will always call them a little crazy for that mutant form of football they play down there. ;)

DC speaks his mind and that is fine I would say.  I pray for all of humanity that we will learn to love each other more and more every day and respect each others differences and viewpoints.  We are lucky we live in a country that allows a fair bit of freedom of expression and where people can chose whatever faith or non-faith for that matter to follow.  We need to protect our freedoms as much as possible.
Free speech is not just the right to say what you want, it is also the obligation to respect others opinions and right to express them. Debate of opinion is good, attacking opinions is repressive.

Hasn't Canada been placing restrictions on free speech as of late?  :-X

Or is that just a false perception based on sketchy news reports?  :P

Someone obviously took exception to my Trump pic so I've neutralized it. It was just intended as a joke.

YES there are restrictions.

Say anything about terrorists , and you are labeled a racist.

Also, CBC, like CNN is a left wing Liberal agenda lead news media.

Further, our government funded Health Canada, has been eliminating natural health supplements.
Eliminating freedom of consumer choice.  ( Bill C-31 ).

Canada is far from perfect.  Still, I would not want to live anywhere else.

I kind of think the CFL is missing the boat, with the NFL protests.

A lot of us Americans are sick and tired of having politics infiltrate the NFL. Their ratings are in the tank.

There is a demand for football that is free of political statements, and the CFL could fill that void.

Aerial

I turn on a football game or any game to watch a sports game, not some protest.   Please players, you have a right to protest but take it to a protest event, not a game where you are there to play the friggin game.

I think this is true about the U.S. , and I'd even go so far as to say that in some places tired of the jingoism, and I have no doubt there are those in Canada who feel that a protest of some kind is badly needed, but football just doesn't carry the same cultural weight. Now, if the Leafs did it at centre ice you would have a sh¡tstorm of epic proportions. ;-)

Or a much needed and wanted new US Spring Football League.

You really could have said that in a much better way. Or not brought it up in the first place, pinhead.

Nothing worse than my fellow Canadians who hold themselves in such high regard. Canada is not the country it used to be. Most of you are delusional in the thinking that because you're a Canadian you are loved around the world. Your not. That reputation was built on the behavior of generations past who knew how to behave as guests when traveling abroad.

Oh Canada, you wear no awe inspiring robe of virtue with me.

I am thankful for the men and woman who fought in legitimate wars for this country and what it stood for BACK THEN! Not the socialist soup kitchen to the world we now live in. The flag I fly outside my house is for a Canada of yesteryear.

This is all Jonathon Jennings fault! ;D

Could not have said it better myself Aerial!  Well stated.  Reminds of the Oscars when some recipients use their acceptance speech to make a political speech or to protest something.  Tasteless and classless!

BUT....like some of you others I digress.  What the bleeping heck does any of this have to do with the original poster's subject line, " Happy Thanksgiving"??  And as far as that stupid Trump meme goes, it should have been taken down long ago!  It's still there!! :P

It was a joke in response to a post. Put it into context and get a sense of humour. Or if you really don't like it don't read. I believe it's called free speech.

I'm thankful for my right to free speech and I'm exercising it.:P :P
